Ulrich Böhme (artist)

Ulrich Böhme (* 1936 in Rostock ) is a German architect , product designer and coin designer . Ulrich Böhme is a retired professor at the Coburg University of Applied Sciences .

Artistic career and work

After studying architecture in Stuttgart Boehme worked as an architect in Hanover , Zurich and Stuttgart , where he also building department was working in the city. From 1971 Böhme designed furniture, among others for the Thonet company . From 1989 to 2001 Böhme taught freehand drawing , free design and representation methods at the Coburg University of Applied Sciences .

Böhme took part in competitions for the design of commemorative coins of the Federal Republic of Germany since the 1980s, but it was not until 2004 that a coin was minted for the first time according to his design, the German 100-euro gold coin " UNESCO World Heritage City of Bamberg ". A silver coin minted in 2009 on the subject of Kepler's laws and another on the subject of porcelain are also based on Böhme's designs. The last-mentioned coin design did not meet with unanimous approval.
