Gro Kvinlog Genlid (born June 8, 1976 in Gjøvik ) is a Norwegian ski crosser and former alpine skier .

Alpine skiing

Kvinlog's strongest discipline was the giant slalom , and she also started in the Super-G and downhill . As a teenager she took part in the Junior Ski World Championships in 1993 , 1994 and 1995 , in which she achieved a total of three placements among the top ten. The best result of the Norwegian was fourth place in the giant slalom in 1995.

In the Alpine Ski World Cup , Kvinlog scored for the first time in December 1993 with 28th place in the giant slalom in Tignes . The following year she reached seventh place in the giant slalom runs in Park City and Vail and was 13th in the discipline classification of the 1994/95 season . After that, she was unable to repeat these services, and an injury occurred in late 1996. After her comeback, Kvinlog did not achieve any more World Cup results in the giant slalom, only in her last World Cup season 2000/01 she scored once each in Downhill and Super-G.

From 2001 to 2005 Gro Kvinlog studied art at Sierra Nevada College (SNC) in the United States. She also joined the SNC's ski team at national college championships.

Ski cross

In America, Kvinlog came to ski cross . Her first successes in this freestyle discipline were 7th place at the FIS World Championships 2005 in Ruka and the silver medal at the X Games 2006. After that, she paused and became a mother. She returned to the World Cup at the beginning of 2008. Kvinlog's best result so far is a third place in March 2008, plus seven other places in the top ten. In Vancouver 2010 she started at the Olympic Games for the first time, but had to be content with 27th place.
