Ulrich Gehre

Ulrich Gehre (born August 3, 1924 in Bevensen ; † December 17, 2015 ) was a German journalist and art historian .

Life

Gehre was born the son of a civil servant. After graduating from high school in Prague , and doing labor and military service during the Second World War , he studied German , art history and folklore at the University of Göttingen from 1945 to 1950 and received his doctorate in 1951/52. He then worked as a feature editor for the daily newspaper Westfalen-Blatt in Bielefeld . From 1953 he was initially editor of the daily newspaper Die Glocke in Oelde , from 1984 to 1994 editor-in-chief. He lived in Oelde.

Gehre was also a co-founder of the local broadcaster Radio WAF , this happened in his function as chairman of the organizers' association for local radio in the Warendorf district , which he held from 1988 to 1994. From 1960 to 1998 he was also a member of the culture committee of the Beckum and Warendorf districts.
