Ulrich Graf von Plettenberg (born  August 6,  1964  in  Birkenfeld ) is a German Roman Catholic priest and vicar general  in the  Diocese of Trier .

Life

He comes from the Westphalian noble family von Plettenberg . After studying in Trier and at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, he was ordained a priest there on October 10, 1991 . After his chaplain time in Trier was it first from 1996 to March 2001, Bishop Kaplan and Secretary of Trier bishop Hermann Josef Spital , then secretary of the diocesan Administrator , Auxiliary Bishop Leo Schwarz and finally Episcopal by July 2002 chaplain and secretary to Bishop Reinhard Marx . From August 2002 to the beginning of 2004 he was released for doctoral studies at the Theological Faculty in Trier and in 2004 because of his dissertation in joint responsibility. Office and laicat in the church after Yves Congar and the Second Vatican Council for Dr. theol. PhD . From February 2004 he worked as a school priest at the Alfred Delp School Hargesheim , a cooperative comprehensive school sponsored by the Diocese of Trier, and as a cooperator in Bad Kreuznach . At the end of 2010 he became pastor of the Am Schaumberg parish community. von Plettenberg was an elected member of the Trier Bishopric Synod from 2013 to 2016 for the Deanery of St. Wendel , and as part of this synod he was chairman of the technical commission 5 “Learning to live the faith in many places”.

On July 1, 2016 he was appointed as the new Vicar General of the Diocese of Trier by Bishop Stephan Ackermann . Von Plettenberg is the successor to Georg Bätzing , who moved to Limburg as bishop . On November 10, 2016, his appointment to the cathedral chapter was announced.
