Ulrich Joost
Ulrich Joost (born September 12, 1951 in Duderstadt ) is a German specialist in German. He emerged in particular as the editor of Georg Christoph Lichtenberg's letter work and through publications on Lichtenberg's extensive private notebooks, the Sudel books .
Life
Joost studied German and history in Göttingen and passed the state examination in 1975. After an apprenticeship in bookbinding with a journeyman's examination (1976), he worked as a research assistant at the Academy of Sciences in Göttingen and the Technical University of Darmstadt . With the dissertation Lichtenberg - the letter writer he received his doctorate in 1988 with Albrecht Schöne . The habilitation thesis from 1996 read "As if I had to translate it to myself" - Critical edition studies on German two-scripts . Since 2003 he has been an adjunct professor for modern German literary history and general literary studies at the Technical University of Darmstadt. He is a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences in Göttingen.
Joost is the editor of the Lichtenberg Yearbook of the Lichtenberg Society, succeeding Wolfgang Promies .
