Albrecht Schöne
Albrecht Schöne (born July 17, 1925 in Barby ) is a German specialist in German .
Life
Albrecht Schöne passed his Abitur in 1946 at the Freiherr-vom-Stein-Gymnasium in Bünde . After studying in Freiburg, Basel, Göttingen and Münster and completing his doctorate in Münster , Schöne completed his habilitation at the Georg-August University in Göttingen with a thesis on the topic: “Secularization as a language-forming force. Studies on the Poetry of German Pastors' Sons ”. From 1958 to 1960 he was associate professor at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster , then from 1960 until his retirement in 1990 he was full professor of German Philology (Modern German Literature) in Göttingen.
Schöne has presented important works and editions on the literature of the Baroque era ( Emblematics ), the Enlightenment ( Georg Christoph Lichtenberg ) and Goethe . One of his most outstanding achievements is the new edition and commentary on Goethe's Faust published in 1994 .
From 1980 to 1985 he was President of the International Association for Germanic Linguistics and Literature Studies (IVG). With the VII. Congress of this society he organized from 25 to 31 August 1985 in Göttingen the first (and so far only) international Germanist congress in Germany.
Albrecht Schöne is the brother of the bishop emeritus of the independent Evangelical Lutheran Church Jobst Schöne .
