Ulrich Kropač

Ulrich Kropač (born July 12, 1960 in Altötting ) is a mathematician and Roman Catholic theologian . He teaches and researches as a professor for religious education at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt .

Scientific career

Ulrich Kropač studied mathematics and computer science at the Technical University of Munich from 1980 to 1986 and graduated with a diploma. From 1986 to 1991 he studied Catholic theology (diploma) at the University of Passau and the Pontificia Università Gregoriana in Rome . He then completed training as a pastoral assistant in the Diocese of Passau . Theological-philosophical studies at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and the University of Philosophy in Munich followed. From 1995 to 2004 he was a research assistant at the chair for religious education and didactics of religious education at the Catholic-Theological Faculty of the University of Regensburg under Georg Hilger . In addition, he trained as a religion teacher in church service and worked as a religion teacher for several years.

In 1998, Kropač graduated from the Theological Faculty of LMU Munich in the subject of dogmatics with a thesis on the subject of “Science and Theology in Dialog. Changes in scientific and logical-mathematical knowledge as a challenge to a conversation ” (PhD supervisor: Peter Neuner ) is doing his doctorate. In 2004 he completed his habilitation at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Regensburg; Subject of the habilitation thesis: “Religious Education and Revelation. In 2004 Kropač accepted a professorship for religious education and catechetics at the Chur Theological University . In 2007 he was offered a position at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, which he accepted. Since then, Kropač has held the chair for didactics of religious teaching, catechetics and religious education there.

research

Ulrich Kropač's research focuses on the areas of Bible didactics in postmodernism, youth religiosity and questions about the foundation of religious education. In 2012 the volume "Youth, Religion, Religiosity" was published, which documents the contributions to an international and interdisciplinary congress held in Eichstätt in 2010. An interdenominational conference based on the results of this congress entitled Between Religion and Religiosity. Challenges for religious education and church youth work due to unbound religious cultures will take place from 9. – 11. October 2013 in Eichstätt.
