Ulrike Rodust (born June 4, 1949 in Quakenbrück ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 2008 to 2019 she was a member of the European Parliament .

Life and work

After completing secondary school , Ulrike Rodust completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk and housekeeper . From 1979 to 1997 she worked in the restaurant business and from 1989 to 1997 she ran her own restaurant .

Ulrike Rodust is married and has two children.

Political party

She joined the SPD in 1972 and was deputy state chairwoman of the working group for self-employed in the SPD (AGS) in Schleswig-Holstein from 1988 to 1998 . From 1995 to 1996 she was a member of the Federal Party Council of the SPD and from 1996 to 2001 she was chairwoman of the SPD district association Rendsburg-Eckernförde . From 1999 to 2001 she was also deputy SPD state chairman in Schleswig-Holstein.

MPs

From 1994 to 1996 Ulrike Rodust was a member of the Brunsbüttel council assembly .

On December 15, 1993 she replaced the deceased Rüdiger Möbusz in the state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein and was a member of the state parliament until 2005 . From 1996 to 1998 she was economic policy spokeswoman for the SPD parliamentary group and from 1998 to 2000 chairwoman of the European Committee. From 2000 to 2005 Rodust headed the working group Europe of the SPD parliamentary group. On April 27, 2005, she moved back into the state parliament as a replacement for the departed MP Heide Simonis . Ulrike Rodust entered the state parliament in 1993 and 2005 via the state list and otherwise always as a directly elected member of the Eckernförde constituency . From June 2008 to June 2009 she was the acting mayor of the municipality of Holzdorf .

On August 29, 2008, Ulrike Rodust moved up to the European Parliament as a substitute candidate for the late Willi Piecyk . She therefore resigned her mandate in the state parliament in December 2008. She returned to the European Parliament in 2009 and 2014 . There Ulrike Rodust was a member of the Committee on Fisheries (PECH). In July 2014 she was elected coordinator by the committee members.

She was also a member of the delegation for relations with the countries of Central America and a member of the delegation to the Euro- Latin American Parliamentary Assembly .
