The Ulubey Canyon Nature Park ( Turkish : Ulubey Kanyonu Tabiat Parkı ) is a nature park in the Ulubey and Karahallı districts of the Turkish province of Uşak . The canyon is the second longest in the world after the Grand Canyon in the USA. The park currently offers a suitable habitat for many animal and plant species and is being developed as a center for ecotourism .

Canyon

The Ulubey Canyon covers an area of 119 hectares. It is 100–500 m wide and 135–170 m deep, with a total length of 40–45 km. It is considered the second longest canyon in the world after the Grand Canyon in the USA . The Ulubey Bach and the Banaz Bach (tributaries of the Great Meander ) flow through the Ulubey Canyon. The main canyon along both streams has dozens of large side canyons. The walls of the canyon are 10–30 m and 50–55 m high. At least three terraces are visible in the canyon walls. In addition, there are many conical karst hills along the gorge.

climate

The province of Uşak is located in a transition zone between the Aegean Sea and Central Anatolia and has the climatic characteristics of both regions. The summer months are warmer and drier than in the Aegean Sea, and the winter season is milder than in the Central Anatolian region. Precipitation from air masses from the Aegean Sea creates a more humid climate than in Central Anatolia. The average annual precipitation is 551 mm. The monthly or seasonal distribution of precipitation is irregular.
