Ulundi is a town in the district of Zululand , Province of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa . From 1994 to 2004 it was the provincial capital together with Pietermaritzburg . The multicultural city is also the seat of the head of the Zulu , King Goodwill Zwelethini kaBhekuzulu . In 2011 Ulundi had 19,840 inhabitants.
Attractions
There is a museum in the village that deals with the culture of the Zulu.
Not far from the city is the Ezulwini Valley, also known as the Valley of the Kings.

Ulundi's economy is particularly focused on the food and tobacco industries .
politics
Again and again there were political discussions about the seat of government in KwaZulu-Natal, which the Zulu-dominated Inkatha Freedom Party would prefer to see in Ulundi. He has been in Pietermaritzburg since 2004.
history
King Cetshwayo founded Ulundi (German: "high place") after he became king in 1873.
In 1879 the place was the scene of the last fighting ( Battle of Ulundi ) between the Zulu and the British in the Zulu War .
During apartheid , Ulundi became the administrative center for the homeland KwaZulu , which was added to the KwaZulu-Natal province in 1994.
