Ulus is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Bartın in the Black Sea region . The city is home to 15 percent of the district's population. With 707 km² Ulus is the second largest district in the province and has the lowest population density. The district is located in the southwest of the province and borders the provinces of Karabük and Kastamonu . The district has existed since 1944, but in 1991 moved from the Zonguldak Province to the newly formed Bartın Province. In addition to the district town ( Merkez ), there are two other cities: Abdipaşa (2,675) and Kumluca (2,226) as well as 69 villages, the largest of which ( Zafer ) has 629 inhabitants.
