Kurucaşile (in ancient times Kromna ) is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Bartın in the Black Sea region . The city of Kurucaşile is home to 27.3 percent of the district's population and is located directly on the Black Sea coast . The history of the city goes back several millennia. As Kromna, she was part of Paphlagonia .
The district Kurucaşile is located in the eastern part of the province has the smallest area and population of these. It borders on the province of Kastamonu to the east . The district was split off in 1957 from the district of Bartın (in what was then the province of Zonguldak ) and in 1991 came with three other districts from there to the newly created province of Bartın. The district consists of the district town ( Merkez ) and 28 villages ( Köy ), none of which have more than 500 inhabitants.
