Free & outdoors (Bad Kissingen)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The " Free & Outside " in Bad Kissingen has been a music festival that has existed since 1994, for which almost 10,000 visitors gather in the spa town every year on two days in June . Event site is the hard place on the grounds of "business park since 2008 Sinnberg ," the former US - military base in Bad Kissingen.

The implementation of the non-profit event is only possible thanks to the voluntary work of over 100 helpers. In addition, the event is dependent on sponsorship income and beverage sales. Bad weather conditions in 2007 and the resulting low attendance endangered the continued existence of the festival.

Organization and concept

Since 1999 the event has been organized by the “Association for the Promotion of Youth Events”. A team of around ten club members takes on the planning. On the two days of the event, the number of volunteers increases to over a hundred. Until 2011, Tobias Schneider and Ralf Stierstorfer were primarily responsible as chairmen of the association. After Tobias Schneider withdrew at the turn of the year 2011/2012, Ralf Stierstorfer was responsible for the festival until 2014. Since autumn 2014, the new chairwoman Veronika Loose and Ralf Stierstorfer have been responsible for the U&D.

In 2009, 35 bands played on two open-air stages and one tent stage. The aim of the festival is to offer visitors a high quality and varied program with free admission. Artists known throughout Germany are also part of the program, as are local bands. Young artists in particular should be encouraged. The U&D Festival has been cooperating with the international youth festival Emergenza since 2009 and organizes part of the program with bands from the Emergenza band pool.

The sponsors of the two-day festival in recent years have included the Sparkasse Bad Kissingen, the Main-Post media group and the Kulmbacher brewery . The main source of income for the organizer is only the sale of drinks due to the free entry to the site. At the entrances, visitors are checked for food they have brought with them without permission.
