The Unionvolleyballclub Ried , or UVC Ried for short , was founded as the volleyball section by Thomas Brückl and Dr. Wolfgang Puttinger founded in 1983 and in the first year he was promoted to the 2nd regional league. From 2008 the club played promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga and since the 2016/17 season it has played in the Austrian Volley League to this day.
