The Universidad Nacional Daniel Alcides Carrión is the state university of the Pasco Department . The campus is around 4,300 meters above sea level on the Meseta de Bombón. It has offices in Oxapampa , Yanahuanca, Paucartambo, La Oroya , Tarma and La Merced . The Faculty of Human Medicine has been located in Vicco (Province of Cerro de Pasco) since 2013 .
history
The university was founded on April 12, 1965 and emerged from the Universidad Comunal de Pasco, which was subordinate to the University of Huancayo .
It is named after Daniel Alcides Carrión (1858–1885), a Peruvian medical student who infected himself with the pathogen in 1885 to study oroya fever and died from it 39 days later.
Alignment
The focus in science and teaching is in the fields of mining and materials science , agricultural science and health sciences . The focus is on interdisciplinary altitude research (e.g. high altitude agriculture , high altitude medicine ).
The university consists of eleven faculties in which 27 bachelor courses are offered. In addition, 17 master’s degrees and three doctoral programs are offered.
