Unni Elisabeth Wilhelmsen (born July 12, 1971 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian folk , pop and jazz singer .

Life

Unni Wilhelmsen first learned the piano as a child, then switched to the guitar at the age of ten. She started out as a singer / songwriter at the age of twenty. a. performing in a club in Oslo with songs by Lillebjørn Nilsen or Bob Dylan ; She became known in 1997 with her debut album To Whom It May Concern , for which she was awarded two Norwegian Spellemann prizes (in the categories of Best Artist and Best Album of the Year ). Since then she has released a series of albums, first for PolyGram and Universal Records , and finally for the independent label St. Cecilia Music , on which she was accompanied by jazz musicians such as Bugge Wesseltoft , Bernt Rosengren , Trygve Seim and Marius Reksjø . On her seventh album, she worked with producers Jan Bang and Erik Honoré; involved musicians were u. a. bassist Lars Danielsson and trumpeter Arve Henriksen .
