Unojah is a Freiburger Reggae - World music band whose band motto "unity in diversity" is.
history
Unojah was founded in 2016 by the German singer and guitarist Chaldun Schrade and the bassist Suleyman ter Haar, whose parents converted to Sufism , a mystical movement in Islam, before they were born . Unojah emerged from the musical project "Ottoman Empire Soundsystem". Ottoman Empire Soundsystem participated in the Creole - Global Music Contest in 2013 under the auspices of Unesco .
style
Unojah mix elements of traditional world music with modern music styles such as Ska , Reggae , Hip-Hop , Folk and Latin . Traditional oriental qasidahs are a focal point . In terms of text, Unojah also devote themselves to numerous languages (including Arabic , Pashtu , German , Spanish , English , Indonesian and French ).
In general, the texts speak of a lot of mindfulness, tolerance and the desire for peace and harmony. The band has outstanding live qualities, the live concerts are characterized by "pure" joie de vivre and special energy.

Unojah are intensely committed to intercultural and interreligious dialogue and see themselves as bridge builders between different cultures and religions. You actively campaign against racism , xenophobia and exclusion . In addition to their concerts, the band members also hold workshops under the motto “Unity in Diversity / Celebrate Diversity ” at schools and educational institutions. Your music video for the song “Unity in Diversity” was published by the federal program “Live Democracy! Active against right-wing extremism, violence and misanthropy ”.
The band members of Unojah are also committed to climate protection . The band wrote a song for the international movement Fridays for Future . All of the proceeds from online singles sales were donated to the organization.
Concerts
Unojah has played concerts in Germany, France, Spain, England and Algeria. She kicked u. a. at the world music festival Horizonte at the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress in Kassel, at the Tucher Blues and Jazz Festival in Bamberg, at the Protestant Church Days in Berlin and Dortmund, and at the Constantine Sufi Festival in Algeria.
