The Unterach is a passenger ship on the Attersee . The ship is operated by Attersee-Schifffahrt and is used in scheduled and charter traffic. It has 125 seats on two decks. The name of the passenger ship is the town of Unterach in the south of the Attersee .

history

Between 1918 and 1978 a ship called Unterach was already sailing on the Attersee, a paddle steamer built in 1870 . This was put into service as Attersee , then drove as Franz Ferdinand and from 1918 as Unterach . The paddle steamer was later converted into a wheel motor ship and decommissioned and scrapped in 1978.

The current ship was built under construction number 38 in 1970 at the Lux shipyard and put into service under the name Bayern in Passau. The client for the new building was the Passau- based joint venture of the three-river tour Klinger, Köck and Vogl. The Bavarians drove from Mondorf am Rhein on their own keel to Nuremberg and from there was transported by land to the Danube. The use on the Danube for the shipping company Köck from Passau was limited to sightseeing trips in and around Passau. Originally there was only the entry deck with the central saloon and the free-standing wheelhouse on the forecastle. The extension to the upper deck as an open deck was carried out between 1980 and the sale to the Attersee.

On July 9, 2016, the Unterach was dedicated to an artist on the occasion of the Gustav Mahler in Steinbach am Attersee” festival, just like the two other passenger ships that had operated on the Attersee . There was also an artist competition, and in the end Birgit Schweiger was allowed to design the motif with which the ship was wrapped. It depicts the young Gustav Mahler in his surroundings, who worked in his composing house in Steinbach am Attersee from 1893 to 1896 . Christian Ludwig Attersee and Gerhard Haderer were among the jury members.

description

Since 1983 the ship has been operating as Unterach on the Attersee. It is the smallest and oldest vehicle in the Stern und Hafferl fleet of Atterseeschifffahrt, which comprises three ships . There is a saloon with 50 seats on the entry deck. 75 people can be seated on the sun deck.
