history
Still called "Urfahr" in 1446 and 1510, the old crossing point was already called "Urfeldt" in 1698. In Urfeld there was already a ship's hut and probably also an open log cabin for the shelter. Was settled permanently the place until about 1685 from Klosterjäger Kaspar Sachenbacher from "Seppenbauer" Sachenbach 2, which had only existed as obsessed with the Häusl from year to year. In 1707, Abbot Eliland II of the Benediktbeuern Monastery "had the Jäger Häusl built on the Urfeld for the convenience of travelers, so that they are required (especially) in winter, when the snow flies (avalanches) to fear" with a ship "could be served to the Danger to escape. ”Kaspar's son Georg bought the house in 1717. In addition to the annual pen of 1 florin , he had to drive the lords of the monastery across the lake and carry the food to the Klosteralm on the Jochberg . In 1846 a small tavern for carters is opened across the Kesselberg . Around 1870 the log cabin was replaced by a hotel. In Urfeld, German intellectuals are increasingly settling on the slope above the lake. These include musicians, painters, writers, engineers, doctors and early politicians of the SPD . After the completion of Kesselbergstrasse in 1897, the previous peace and seclusion in Urfeld will be lost. From 1902, the Hotel Post and Hotel Jäger am See developed a modern hotel business with an international audience. From 1919 to 1924 Urfeld was a major construction site for the inlet and tunnel of the Walchensee power plant . In 1927 the former house "Waldwinkel" is owned by Baroness Friederike von Belli de Pino, b. Baroness von Aretin converted into a youth hostel .
