The Urkan ( Russian Уркан, Верхний Уркан, Левый Уркан ) is a left tributary of the Seja in the Amur Oblast in the Far East of Russia . To distinguish it from the larger right Seja tributary of the same name , the Urkan , the river is also referred to as "Upper Urkan" or "Left Urkan".

The Urkan rises in the western Jagdy Mountains . It flows mainly in a northerly direction. It flows through the Upper Seja Plain and after 234 km reaches the south bank of the Seja Reservoir . The backwater of the Seja reaches into the lower reaches of the river. The river drains an area of ​​3740 km². The mean discharge (MQ) 19 km above the mouth is 21 m³ / s.
