Ursula Gut-Winterberger

Ursula Gut-Winterberger (born September 24, 1953 ; resident in Küsnacht ZH ) is a Swiss politician of the FDP. The Liberals . From 2006 to 2015 she was a member of the Government Council of the Canton of Zurich . She was President of the Government Council 2011/2012.

Ursula Gut grew up with her brother in Erlenbach ZH . Her father was Gerhard Winterberger (1921–1993), former director of the suburb of the Swiss Trade and Industry Association (today: Economiesuisse ). In 1976 she finished her law studies at the University of Zurich and received her doctorate in 1986 with the dissertation “The role of the Federal Assembly, Federal Council and Federal Administration in the legislative process” .

Between 1986 and 2006 she held various positions in the private sector, including a member of the board of directors at Credit Suisse . From 2005 to 2006 she was Vice Director of the life insurance group Swiss Life .

Ursula Gut began her political career as a councilor in her municipality of Küsnacht ZH. She was a member of the local council from 1994 to 2006, and from 1998 she was mayor of Küsnacht. Gut has been a member of the party executive committee of the FDP Canton of Zurich since 2004. In 2003 she missed the election to the National Council .

In the summer of 2006 Gut was elected to succeed Dorothée Fierz in the Zurich government council. She successfully defended the second FDP seat against the Greens Ruth Genner . Until her re-election in the spring of 2007, she was head of the building department, since then she has been the head of the finance department. In the 2007 government council elections, she achieved the best result of all candidates.

On April 3, 2014, Gut announced that she would not run again in the April 2015 elections. She has been a member of the SRG SSR Board of Directors since 2016 .
