Urszula Małgorzata Benka , Urszula Benka-Urbanowicz (born December 30, 1953 in Breslau ) is a Polish poet , narrator and translator of French and English literature.

Life

Benka attended grammar school in Breslau and graduated from high school in 1973. She then took up a degree in psychology at the Philological Faculty of the University of Wroclaw , which she had to interrupt for health reasons. She made her debut in 1975 under the pseudonym Krasińska in the student almanac "Sigma" with the poems Zwierzeniakurtyzany and Gorączka . They began in 1976 Polish Studies at the University of Breslau to study where in 1981 the Master acquired. From 1983 to 1987 she lived in France , from 1987 for a while in the USA . She returned to Poland in 1991 and initially lived in Katowice . There she took part in the activities of her husband Andrzej Urbanowicz's Oneiron 2 author's theater from 1992 to 1994 . With the dissertation Charyzma władania, święty mord. Analiza symboliki i semantyki mitycznej w twórczości Henryka Sienkiewicza received her doctorate in 1992. In 1994 she moved to Breslau , where she worked from 1995 to 2000 as an editor for the publishing house of the Academy of Fine Arts there. As part of a literary scholarship from the Saxon State Ministry for Science and Art , she spent 2000 at Wiepersdorf Castle . From 2003 to 2012 she lectured at the Afa School of Photography in Warsaw. In addition, from 2005 to 2006 she led seminars at the Institute for Cultural Studies at the University of Wroclaw. From 2012 to 2013 she lectured at the University of Zielona Góra . She belongs to the Orpheus group of authors and was a participant in the German-Polish poet steamer .

Urszula Benka lives in Breslau.
