Uta Fritze (* 1955 in Munich ) is a German astrophysicist and astronomer .

Life

Uta Fritze was born in Munich. She studied physics and philosophy at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . During this time she spent a stay abroad at the Université de Grenoble and one at CERN in Geneva. Afterwards she completed her diploma at the University of Göttingen in 1982. In 1989 she received her doctorate in the field of astrophysics with a study of the spectrophotometric , chemical and cosmological evolution of galaxies . In January 2001 she completed her habilitation at the University of Göttingen with a study on the evolution of galaxies on cosmological time scales at the Göttingen University Observatory. There she taught and researched for the following years in the Galactic and Extragalactic Research Department with the help of computer models and data from, among other things, the Hubble Space Telescope . In addition to her work on the Göttingen galaxy evolution model, she also deals with cosmological structure formation scenarios.

In 2002 she received the Hertha Sponer Prize of the German Physical Society for her investigations into the spectral and chemical development of galaxies on cosmological time scales, especially under the influence of interactions . The award ceremony took place at the 67th Physics Conference in March 2003 in Hanover. As a member of the Observing Program Committee of ESO , Uta Fritze also decided in the field of galaxies and active galactic nuclei from 2005 on the allocation of observation times to the eight ESO telescopes in Chile. She also researched and taught at the University of Hertfordshire in the Center for Astrophysics Research.

It published from 1989 to 2007 under the name Uta Fritze-von Alvensleben.

Since 2011 she has been working as a math and physics teacher at the Corvinianum high school .
