Uwe Brunn (born November 20, 1967 in Berlin ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper and soccer coach . From 2014 to 2017 he was Vice President of the sports club VfL Osnabrück .

Career

Brunn began his career at SSC Südwest Berlin and BFC Preussen before moving to the amateurs of 1. FC Köln . In July 1988 he moved to Borussia Mönchengladbach , for which he played six games in the 1990/91 Bundesliga . In June 1991 Uwe Brunn signed a contract with VfL Osnabrück , for which he was active for a good twelve years and played 357 games.

Brunn became the hero of VfL Osnabrück on June 1, 2000 in the second leg of the relegation round against 1. FC Union Berlin . In the decisive penalty shootout, he initially saved Steffen Menze's penalty , then scored the 8: 7 himself and parried the subsequent penalty from Berlin goalkeeper Kay Wehner . The game ended 9: 8 and Osnabrück rose again to the 2nd Bundesliga after seven years of abstinence . In 2000 he was voted Lower Saxony's Footballer of the Year .

Due to a cruciate ligament injury sustained by a foul by Abdelaziz Ahanfouf during an encounter against Dynamo Dresden , he ended his career as a professional player.

Uwe Brunn was the coach of the Lower Saxony district division TuS Haste . On March 21, 2009 Brunn was introduced as the new coach of the upper division BSV Rehden ; he held this office until the summer of 2011. He then switched to the regional league team Sportfreunde Lotte as a goalkeeper coach . On November 30, 2014, Brunn was elected Vice President at the annual general meeting of VfL Osnabrück; in November 2017 he was not re-elected for this office.
