Uwe Eckel (born July 6, 1966 ) is a former German soccer player .

Club career

Eckel came to 1. FC Kaiserslautern in 1988 as a goalscorer and newly crowned Southwest Cup winner from the amateur upper division Wormatia Worms and played there twice as a professional in the Bundesliga . He then moved to the then second division Hannover 96 . After two years and 35 games (eight goals) he went to Hamburger SV , where he played one season in the Bundesliga and was used four times in the UEFA Cup (one goal). In the following years Eckel played in the regional and major leagues at VfB Lübeck , TuS Hoisdorf , VfL 93 Hamburg and SV Concordia Ihrhove . He then played for lower-class clubs until he ended his playing career in 2004.

Career as a coach

Uwe Eckel initially worked as a trainer for the 2nd team at Germania Leer . Since summer 2009 he has been the player-coach at SV Concordia Ihrhove.
