Uwe Steger

Uwe Steger (born February 23, 1971 ) is a German accordionist .

Life

Uwe Steger studied at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin with Eduard Wall. Between 1983 and 1993 he was a winner of national and international competitions. Until 2001 he was a scholarship holder of the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation "Live Music Now" . Since 1997 he has been working on a freelance basis with theaters and orchestras in East Germany - especially in Berlin, Leipzig, Chemnitz and Rudolstadt. He has been an endorser at ROLAND since 2007, and at BUGARI since 2016 . Since 2009 he has been a lecturer at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University of Music and Theater in Leipzig. Uwe Steger worked with Montserrat Caballé , Ute Lemper ,Klaus Hoffmann , Maria Bill , Ina Deter , Christina Lux , Manfred Maurenbrecher , Katharine Mehrling , Rainer Oleak , Pe Werner together.

Awards

Uwe Steger was awarded at the following competitions

  • 1990: Finalist in the Hugo Hermann competition
  • 1990: Finalist at the 1st Bayan Festival in Moscow
  • 1990: Special Prize from Mogens Ellegaard
  • 1991: 1st prize at the German Accordion Music Prize in Baden-Baden
  • 2007: 2nd prize at the international V-Accordion Festival in Rome.

Several pieces - including the compulsory piece for the International Klingenthal Competition in 1998 - were dedicated to him.
