Uwe Vock

Uwe Vock (* 1956 in Backnang ) is a German advertising and media designer and professor at the University of the Arts in Berlin.

Life

Vock studied graphic design at the Schwäbisch Gmünd University of Design . During his studies he worked as a junior art director at GGK Stuttgart. In 1982 he moved to the McCann-Erickson advertising agency in Frankfurt . There he created works for Levis Germany and Deutsche Bahn . He gained notoriety with the Camel campaign in 1992. As successful as this campaign was in terms of creativity, it was then discussed controversially from a brand perspective. After working in Milan and New York , he left McCann-Erickson in 1992 as Creative Director and “Member of the Board”. He followed the call to the Berlin University of the Arts as a full professor for advertising in the visual communication course in the design faculty.

At the same time he founded the UVA advertising agency in Potsdam as a partner and creative director . He was managing director of the UVA subsidiaries, UVA-bytes GmbH and thinklink GmbH . In 2007 he left the UVA Group for personal reasons. Together with Thomas Schildhauer from the IEB, he was involved in practical projects for Diakonie , the German Fundraising Association , the German Cancer Aid and UNICEF . As a student project under his direction, the film won the gold medal at the Cine Washington and the Worldfest Houston for the business location Brandenburg.

From 2009 to 2011 he was the managing partner of TP Theory & Practice GmbH Berlin, which was founded jointly with Uwe-Gernot Fasold and which conducts research and new communication at the interface between university and business and focuses on social media analysis, integrated brand management and brand building and the development of new communication approaches , z. B. specializes in augmented reality and mobile apps. Also since 2009 he has been working on behalf of Fraunhofer IuK as a coordinator for the development of final artistic and design courses at the Malta College for Art, Science and Technology, MCAST.

Since 2011 Vock has been involved in various communication, corporate design and research projects as a freelancer and consultant.
