Uwe Voigt (philosopher)

Uwe Voigt (born April 1, 1965 in Lichtenfels / Bavaria ) is a German professor of philosophy .

Life

In 1985 Voigt passed the Abitur at the Meranier-Gymnasium Lichtenfels . He studied philosophy, psychology and catholic theology at the Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg (1985 to 1992) and at the University of Innsbruck (1988/1989) as a scholarship holder of the Bavarian School for Talented Students and the German National Academic Foundation . From 1993 to 2008 and 2010 Voigt worked at the Chair of Philosophy I at the Otto Friedrich University in Bamberg as a research assistant and assistant. There he received his doctorate in 1996 with an investigation into the understanding of history of Johann Amos Comenius as well as an annotated translation of his work Via Lucis .

In 2007 Voigt completed his habilitation in Bamberg with a thesis on Aristotle's concept of soul in connection with modern information terminology. For his dissertation Voigt received the sponsorship award from the University of Bamberg; his habilitation thesis was awarded the "Hans Löwel" habilitation prize from the Otto Friedrich University of Bamberg.

After various professorships and visiting professorships abroad, Voigt took over the chair of philosophy with a focus on analytical philosophy and philosophy of science at the Philosophical and Social Sciences Faculty of the University of Augsburg in the summer semester 2011 as successor to Klaus Mainzer . In 2016 he was also appointed Adjunct Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Memorial University of Newfoundland .

In October 2013 Uwe Voigt was elected chairman of the German Comenius Society.

Uwe Voigt is married and has a daughter.

Voigt is particularly interested in reflecting on interdisciplinarity against the background of the ongoing systematic topicality of the philosophical classics, as well as Johann Amos Comenius as an early thought leader in global communication processes that can be understood and designed in intercultural dialogue .
