Václav Šimerka , German Wenzel Simerka or Schimerka , (born December 20, 1819 in Hochwesseln , † December 26, 1887 in Praskačka near Königgrätz ), was a Bohemian mathematician , physicist , philosopher and priest .

Life

After attending grammar school in Jitschin , Václav Šimerka studied philosophy in Prague and theology in Königgrätz. In 1845 he was ordained a priest and then worked as a chaplain in Žlunice near Jičín. In 1852 he passed the mathematics teaching examination and then studied physics in Prague. He then worked as a supplement ( assistant teacher ) at the grammar school in Budweis . From 1862 he was pastor in Slatina near Žamberk and from 1886 pastor in Jenšovice near Vysoké Mýto . In addition, he continued to publish numerous works on philosophical topics, most of which had a scientific reference and were partly written in German. The results of his studies were partly incorporated into textbooks for school teaching.
