V509 Cassiopeiae ( V509 Cas for short ), also known as HR 8752 , is a star in the Cassiopeia constellation .
V509 Cassiopeiae is a yellow Tallstar from the type G with a mean apparent brightness of +5.10. Its distance from Earth is at least 7800 light years . It is classified as a semi-regularly variable star . Its brightness fluctuates from magnitude +4.75 to +5.5. According to RW Cephei , V509 Cassiopeiae is the brightest star in the stellar association Cep OB1 .
The exact nature of V509 Cassiopeiae and its fluctuations in brightness is not yet understood; among other things, it is assumed that a possible companion star could also play a certain role.
