VISEO + was a television program offered by RTL Group and Eutelsat , which could be received via DVB-T in Stuttgart since October 15, 2009 and in the Leipzig-Halle conurbation from December 2009 . The offer was discontinued on December 31, 2014.

Special DVB-T receivers that supported MPEG-4 and the Conax encryption system were required for reception . In the past, two receiver models from Topfield (TF7700 HTCO) and Zenega (GER-300 T) were available in retail outlets in the Stuttgart region. At 99 euros ( RRP ), these devices were significantly more expensive than normal DVB-T receivers. By the end of June 2010, Zenega should have sold 2000 devices to retailers. Topfield is moving in a similar area. No information is known about the sales volume to end customers or the number of subscribers. Both receiver models are currently “sold out” and will not be reproduced due to the low demand.

Programs

The basic encrypted programs were advertising-financed private television of the RTL group, as it is broadcast elsewhere in a common MPEG- 2 multiplex . VISEO + broadcast all programs in MPEG-4. This enabled higher compression rates to be achieved, which enabled the two pay stations to be broadcast over the same multiplex signal. They could be received free of charge in the first year (six months of which without registration). After that, only the basic encrypted programs were free via this multiplex. These were free (in the sense of free of charge), but could not be used independently of a proprietary encryption method. However, the devices offered were downward compatible with unencrypted multiplexes of the public broadcasters. First of all, the RTL group announced on January 16, 2013 that it would withdraw completely from DVB-T broadcasting by the end of 2014 at the latest. At the beginning of 2014, the RTL group announced that it would continue to broadcast DVB-T and would broadcast in DVB-T2 from 2016 . However, the VISEO + platform was switched off at the end of 2014.
