The Voxx International Corporation is one of the NASDAQ listed company, the consumer electronics industry based in Orlando in the American state of Florida .

The company is divided into the three divisions Automotive Products, Audio Products and Consumer Goods Accessories.

The company was founded in 1960 as Audiovox Corporation by John J. Shalam and brought the first car radios to the market for retrofitting. In 1975 the company passed the US $ 100 million mark in sales for the first time. With the introduction of anti-theft devices for vehicles, a second pillar was created for the company in 1981. With Toshiba Corp. A partnership was entered into in 1984 and the first mobile phone accessories were launched.

After going public in 1987, the company was listed on the American Stock Exchange under the symbol VOX .

The first cell phone was delivered in 1988 and in 1991 the first "lightweight" cell phone called Minivox was launched. Furthermore, the company was divided into two divisions in 1991: Wireless ( English for wireless) and Electronics . In 1996 the trademark VOXX International was licensed for the first time .

Audiovox Communications Corp.

In 1995 Audiovox Communications Corp. (Abbreviation: ACC) founded as a subsidiary of Audiovox Corporation. In 1996 the company sold over a million headsets . The first CDMA headset was launched in 1998. Toshiba Corp. increases with a share of 5% in 1999 in Audiovox Communication Corp. a. Audiovox Communication Corp. in the same year came in second place among the CDMA providers. The first TDMA headsets and internationally usable GSM mobile radio devices will also be launched on the market this year . In 2001 the company becomes the market leader for CDMA headsets and introduces GMRS / GPS systems on the market. Audiovox Electronics Corp.

In 2000, the Electronic division, which was founded in 1991, became the Audiovox Electronics Corp. subsidiary . As early as 1997, the Electronic division introduced the first mobile video system for retrofitting onto the market. The first family radio service systems followed in 1998 . With the FRS systems, the division achieved a market share of 20% in 1999. That year the division also launched the first MP3 player .

With Ford Corporation and Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. OEM contracts for mobile video systems for the 2001 models are signed in 2000 .

In 2001 the company becomes the third largest supplier in the field of mobile DVD players and the market leader for mobile video systems. The partnerships with Buena Vista and Sprint Corp. ( PDA ) and the introduction of a Microsoft- based Pocket PC marked the year 2002.
