The seats are arranged in rows of two so that the entire passenger area can be accessed via a central aisle. There are parking spaces for strollers and bicycles and a barrier-free toilet near the doors. There are shelves for suitcases and other luggage above the seats. There is space for travelers with animals in the compartment at the end of the car. In addition to parking spaces for wheelchair users, there is a lift near the doors , as many platforms are not barrier-free. There are several ticket validators in each Dm12 unit.

Areas of application

The Dm12 series is designed for routes with little passenger traffic. Thus, compounds with of locomotives hauled trains do not cover costs, be operated economically. Compared to the trains used previously, they are quieter, lower in emissions and more economical in terms of fuel consumption.

On May 17, 2005, traffic with the first vehicles on the route between the Finnish cities of Pieksämäki and Joensuu began. In November of the same year the connection from Joensuu to Nurmes followed , in December 2005 the use of Dm12 trains on the route between Ylivieska and Iisalmi began . From February of the following year, traffic between Savonlinna and Parikkala was handled with Dm12 vehicles. Tampere - Haapamäki and Karjaa / Karis - Hanko followed in March 2006 .

Dm12 vehicles commuted between Jyväskylä and Seinäjoki from September 2006 to May 31, 2007. However, traffic with this series was discontinued because the capacity of a Dm12 was often insufficient. Because of the higher level of comfort, locomotives and passenger coaches were once again used during the Dm12 service at the weekend .
