The Vaikkojoki is a river in the Finnish landscapes of North Karelia and North Savo . It has its origin in Lake Vaikkojärvi in the area of the municipality of Juuka . From there it flows mainly in a southerly direction through a series of smaller lakes. Larger lakes along its course are Kärenjärvi , Vihtajärvi and Saarijärvi .

Finally, after around 50 km and an altitude difference of 80 m, the Vaikkojoki flows into the Kaavinjärvi lake in the municipality of Kaavi . This flows over the lake Rikkavesi to Juojärvi . The Vaikkojoki thus forms a tributary of the Iso-Kalla and Saimaa lake systems.

The river is suitable for canoeing .
