Valerie Susan Meux, Baroness Meux (* 1852 in London as Valerie Susan Langdon , † 1910 in Cheshunt , Hertfordshire ) was a British actress . Some sources suggest she was a prostitute .

Valerie Susan Langdon was the daughter of a butcher from Devonshire . After a brief marriage with a vaudeville artist, she had numerous love affairs , including a brief affair with the Prince of Wales and later King Edward VII and a liaison with the Russian Grand Duke Nikolai Nikolajewitsch Romanov , who owned a hat atelier on Hanover Square in the Central London funded.

In 1878, Valerie Langdon caused a scandal by secretly marrying the wealthy businessman Sir Henry Bruce Meux, 3rd Baron Meux (1820–1900), heir to a London brewing empire. The honeymoon, which was not just because of the gossip and gossip, took them to France , Italy , India and Egypt . The marriage, which all reports said was a happy one, had two sons - but they died shortly after birth.

Lady Meux was an eccentric beauty who owned a prestigious collection of Egyptian antiquities - over 800 scarabs and amulets - from Abydos and Luxor . After her death, Lady Meux bequeathed the collection to the British Museum .
