The Valhalla idrottsplats ( German  Valhalla sports field ) is a football stadium in the Heden district of the Swedish city ​​of Gothenburg . The facility in the city center is located between the Liseberg amusement park and the Ullevi Stadium . It is also next to the Scandinavium multifunctional arena . The sports facility offers space for 4,000 spectators, 1,200 of which are covered seats including 120 VIP and eight wheelchair-accessible seats. The women's soccer team of Kopparberg / Göteborg FC and the soccer club Qviding FIF are currently playing their home games in the stadium.

history

The facility was built in the early 1960s and opened in 1963. In 1974 the stadium was equipped with the first artificial turf in Sweden. In the mid-1990s, the stadium was also used for hockey (Valhalla Landhockey Club) and American football ( Göteborg Marvels ). In 2006 the artificial turf was renewed and enlarged to the dimensions of 105 × 65 meters. The women's football team of Kopparbergs / Göteborg FC from Damallsvenskan then moved to the venue. In 2007 some renovations were made. There were u. a. Plastic seats from Gamla Ullevi, which was under renovation at the time, were installed in the venue and the sound system was replaced. In the following years, the floodlight system was strengthened and new changing rooms were built. In 2013/14 the facility received Sweden’s most modern artificial turf. In 2015, the 1,200 seats were covered with wheelchair-accessible spaces. The stadium was equipped with the same artificial seats as the Ullevi Stadium.

From 2007 to 2009, during the renovation of Gamla Ullevi, Örgryte IS also played its home games in Valhalla idrottsplats.
