Valstagna (in the Cimbrian dialect : Wallsteine ) is a fraction of the north-eastern Italian municipality ( comune ) Valbrenta in the province of Vicenza in Veneto .

geography

The place is about 35.5 kilometers north-northeast of Vicenza on the Brenta River on the orographic right side of the valley in the Brenta Canal, as the southern continuation of the Valsugana is called. The Calà del Sasso , one of the largest flight of steps in Europe, leads from Valstagna to the Asiago plateau or the Seven Municipalities .

history

Valstagna was an independent municipality until January 30, 2019 and has since formed the new municipality of Valbrenta with the also dissolved municipalities of Campolongo sul Brenta , Cismon del Grappa and San Nazario .

traffic

To the east of the village on the other bank of the Brenta River, Strada Statale 47 della Valsugana leads from Padua to Trento . The Carpanè-Valstagna train station (located in Carpanè near San Nazario) is on the Trento – Venice railway line .

There is a canoe and kayak route on the Brenta.
