Valter Matošević (born June 11, 1970 in Rijeka ) is a Croatian handball player and former national player of the Croatian national handball team .

From 2005 to 2007 he was the goalkeeper of the handball Bundesliga team HSG Wetzlar . In 2007 he had his contract there dissolved in order to devote himself to building an apartment complex in his home country; three days later he signed a new contract with the Spanish top club SDC San Antonio . In January 2011 TuS Nettelstedt-Lübbecke committed Valter Matošević for some games in winter, due to the injury of the goalkeeper Nikola Blažičko . In May 2015, the second division ThSV Eisenach signed him for the last four league games.

Matošević won gold at the Olympic Games in both 1996 and 2004 with the Croatian national handball team. He also won gold with the Croatian national handball team at the 2003 World Handball Championship .
