Use in Europe

The hybrid drive of the A330 Fuell Cell Europa works with fuel cells. The PEM - fuel cell manufactured by Ballard Power Systems , provide the power for the electric motor with 210 kW capacity, manufactured by Siemens . Additional lithium-ion batteries support the drive. The buses are built at Van Hool's production facility in Koningshooikt .

In 2008, test drives with the A330 Fuel Cell were carried out in the province of South Holland . This bus was later handed over to the Belgian transport company De Lijn . Further missions took place in major European cities.

In 2015 Van Hool and Transport for London signed a contract for the delivery of two A330 Fuel Cell buses. The buses run on the line RV1 in London's city center.

In spring 2018, Van Hool received the order to supply ten A330 fuel cell buses to the Wuppertaler Stadtwerke and 30 other vehicles of the same type to Regionalverkehr Köln . A300 L Fuel Cell USA in Beauvais

There has been a Van Hool hydrogen bus in the USA since 2004 . This was developed on the basis of the A330 and was a model for the European and later for the American market, which was developed from the A300L. The first models of the A330 Fuel Cell were powered by PEM fuel cell modules from United Technologies Corporation with 120 kW, two Siemens traction motors with 85 kW each and a Zebra battery with 95 kW. The components were built into the bus by ISE (company) .

Four buses were used within the framework of the CaFCP , three of them since 2005 with the regional bus operator AC Transit in Alameda County and Contra Costa County in the west of the Bay of San Francisco . The fourth bus has been operated by SunLine in the Palm Springs and Coachella Valley area since early 2006.

A fifth bus has been in service with CTTransit in the Hartford area, Connecticut , since April 2007 . It is the first hydrogen bus on the east coast of the United States .
