The Vansadhara (also Vamsadhara or Bansadhara ) is a river in eastern India in the states of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh .
The Vansadhara rises in the Durgakangar Hills , a mountain range of the Eastern Ghats , at about 1200 m altitude on the district border of Kalahandi and Rayagada . It initially flows north past Lanjigarh before making a sharp bend to the right and flowing south through the Eastern Ghats in the Rayagada district. The river passes the small towns of Gunupur and Kasinagar . It forms the border with the Gajapati district. The last 100 km it runs on the border or within the Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh. The Mahendratanaya flows into the Vansadhara 13 km west of the city of Paralakhemundi . The Vansadhara runs 13 km northeast of the city of Srikakulam in an easterly direction and finally reaches the Bay of Bengal north of the village of Kalingapatnam . The Vansadhara is 239 km long. Its catchment area covers 11,377 km², of which 8960 km² are in Odisha and 2417 km² in Andhra Pradesh.
