Varun Dhawan (born April 24, 1987 ) is an Indian actor . He made his film debut in Karan Johar's Film Student of the Year in 2012 .

Life

Varun Dhawan is the son of director David Dhawan and his wife Kurana. His older brother Rohit is like his father a film director. Varun studied management in England and worked as an assistant director in Karan Johars My Name Is Khan .

Two years later, Dhawan made his debut in the romantic film Student of the Year alongside two other newcomers, Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra . The film became a huge hit and the young cast were dubbed promising. In Main Tera Hero he played the lead role in the Telugu remake Kandireega with Ileana D'Cruz , Nargis Fakhri . His father David Dhawan took over the direction. In his next film, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania , he starred again with Alia Bhatt, his student of the year co-star . The film is a tribute to the film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, starring Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan , which has been in theaters for over 20 years.

In the crime thriller Badlapur , Dhawan's character Raghu wants to take revenge on the murderer of his wife and son after 15 years. Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays the antagonist Liak Tungrekar, who is responsible for the death of his family during a bank robbery. During his vengeance, Varun's character Raghu becomes a multiple murderer and escapes. Dhawan said that he was mentally ill when he was shooting for the film because it bothered him. The film is based on a true story that took place in 1990.

His next film, ABCD 2 , was released on June 16, 2015 and was distributed by Disney . In addition to Varun, Shraddha Kapoor can also be seen in the dance film, which can be traced back to the event of Suresh Mukund, a dancer from Mumbai who won the 2012 World Hip Hop Dance Championship.
