In the parallel plot he tries to prepare for a fight together with his boxing trainer. reception
Patriotic love wants to polarize and provoke in its creative intent. The film succeeds in doing this very well, as topics such as racism and German identity are satirically processed. It is perceived as controversial, humorous, ironic. In the end, the film does not take a clear position from the makers. The film is assigned to the genre Mockumentary, as it fictionally imitates the genre documentary. The short film was briefly available for viewing on Zeit Online in December 2013 and was discussed a lot and extremely hot on Facebook.
background
The students at the time, Fabian Püschel and Nico Sommer, developed the idea for the film together a year before filming began. The film is part of his thesis at the Kassel Art College . Before that, Sommer shot the film Stiller Frühling and let his experiences flow into the film about love of fatherland. So he could take full advantage of the mockumentary genre. The film was shot on an HD camera with only 20 mm pancake optics. The team consisted of three crew members and a few main and secondary actors, as well as lay people. The film was shown at numerous national festivals. However, it was not accepted at just as many festivals because the film is too provocative and politically ambiguous and could possibly be misunderstood. During a screening in Frankfurt at the Visionale 2011, it split the audience present and there were loud arguments within the cinema. The film has not been approved for young people by the FSK . On the other hand, the film received the rating of Particularly Valuable from the Film Evaluation Board .
