Vecumnieki (German: Neugut) is a village in Latvia , about 45 km south of Riga .

history

The crab jar was located here. After the Neugut railway station was established on the Mitau - Kreutzburg line in 1904 , a settlement was established. Until 1940 the village was called Vecmuiža. In 1951 the area of ​​the local kolkhoz Sarkana zvaigzne (Red Star) was incorporated, in 1954 two other places.

Vecumnieku novads

Since the districts were dissolved in 2009, Vecumnieki has formed an administrative community with five surrounding municipalities. 9,708 inhabitants live here (as of July 1, 2010).
