The United Filzfabriken AG (VFG) in Giengen an der Brenz is a listed company for the manufacture of felt , it is part of the FFF Group .

background

VFG's predecessor was the Württemberg wool felt manufacture founded in 1858 by the 20-year-old Hans Haehnle . In 1871 he married his cousin Lina Hähnle , who founded the Federation for Bird Protection (BfV) , the predecessor of the Nature Conservation Union in Germany . Under their influence, he built company apartments and set up a voluntary company health insurance fund and a crèche for his employees.

After buying up three other felt factories in Augsburg , Lambrecht (Pfalz) and Neidenfels , the company was converted into a stock corporation under the company Vereinigte Filzfabriken AG in 1881 . Margarete Steiff (a relative of the Hähnles) and later also Joseph Beuys were among the customers .

In 1922, the six production sites in Gerschweiler south of Giengen were merged. Filzfabrik Fulda and Wirth Fulda GmbH (Wirth Group) have held the majority of the shares since 1968 . In 1969 the company went public; the shares were officially listed in Munich and Stuttgart and are now traded there on the regulated market . A control and profit transfer agreement exists with Wirth Fulda GmbH, which directly and indirectly holds almost 97% of the shares ; the small shareholders receive a compensation payment of 18.61 euros per year.

Today, VFG supplies companies from more than 80 branches at home and abroad.
