Verena von Asten
Verena von Asten , née Eckart (born August 10, 1932 in Ulm ) is a German writer who has lived in Belgium since 1959 .
Live and act
Verena von Asten is the daughter of leather goods - manufacturers Hans Eckart and his wife Lily . She grew up on Michel mountain in Ulm, closed the girls high school with GCSEs and completed after stays in the French Switzerland and in England training as a bilingual secretary and Auslandsstenografin . After a six-month stay in Argentina , she worked for four years in the foreign department of an agricultural machinery factory in Ulm and at Bell Telephone in Zurich .
In April 1959 she married in Ulm the Belgian felt cloth -Fabrikanten Eckart von Asten and since then has lived in his home town of Eupen in the German-speaking part of Belgium.
Verena von Asten wrote numerous children's books and short stories as well as some in Eastern Belgium playing Regional Crime . In 2004 she was honored with the literature prize of the German-speaking Community in Belgium (DG) for her detective novel “Death in the Sauna” . In 2010 she published the first part of her autobiography with the title "Past, but not forgotten", followed by a sequel in 2014 with the book "Freischwimmen".
Even at the old age of over 80, Verena von Asten takes part in author workshops and is invited to readings .
Verena von Asten is the mother of two daughters and a son.
