Verner Lička also Werner Lička (born September 15, 1954 in Hlučín ) is a former Czech football player and current coach .
Player career
Verner Lička played for Sokol Hlučín in his youth . In 1973 the striker moved to Ostroj Opava , but only a short time later went to Dukla Tachov to do his military service there. In 1975 he returned to Opava, but soon moved to Baník Ostrava , where he spent most of his career and won the Czechoslovak championship three times and the national cup once. After 255 games and 103 goals, Lička moved to the French club FC Grenoble in 1986 . After just one season, he moved on to the Belgian club Berchem Sport . In 1989 he played briefly for Germinal Ekeren , then two years for Calais RUFC . After the 1991/92 season at Olympique Grande-Synthe Lička ended his active career.
National team
For the Czechoslovak national football team Lička completed nine games in which he scored a goal. He was part of both the squad for the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, in which the Czechoslovak team won gold, as well as the 1980 European Championship , in which the Czechoslovaks came third.

Coaching career
Lička began his coaching career as an assistant at Baník Ostrava in the 1992/93 season. In 1993/94 and 1994/95 he was the head coach of Baník on the bench. In 1995/96 he coached FC Zlín . In 1996/97 he was the sports director at Baník Ostrava, and from 1997 to 2000 he was again the main coach. From 1993 to 1998 Lička was also an assistant coach for the Czech national team .
He then coached the Qatar Sports Club team . In May 2001 he took over the coaching position at Baník Ostrava for a few games before he went to Polonia Warsaw . In mid-2002 Lička took over the Czech U21 team, which he was in charge of until December 2004. In April 2004 he signed with Górnik Zabrze , in December 2004 he moved to the Wisła Krakow bank . For the 2006/07 season he took over Dyskobolia Grodzisk . He was released in November 2006. In 2007 he moved to the management of Baník Ostrava, where he was later twice employed as an interim coach.
