Verneri Suhonen (born March 11, 1997 in Lahti ) is a Finnish cross-country skier .

Career

Suhonen took part in the Nordic Scandinavian Cup for the first time in Vuokatti in December 2013 and finished in 183rd place over 15 km classic. At the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival 2015 in Steg , he came in 39th place over 10 km classic, 20th place over 7.5 km freestyle and 18th place in sprint. In 2015, 2016 and 2017 he became the Finnish junior sprint champion. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2016 in Râșnov , he took 25th place in the sprint. He made his debut in the cross-country skiing world cup in November 2016 in Ruka , which he finished in 76th place in the sprint. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2017 in Soldier Hollow , he ran to 24th place over 10 km freestyle, 11th place with the relay and fifth place in the sprint. At the end of January 2018, in Seefeld in Tirol , he took 30th place in the sprint, his first World Cup point.
