The Slavic village of Brandenburg an der Havel is an open-air museum , village museum and event location in the city of Brandenburg an der Havel . Various village and other buildings from the medieval Slav period before 1157 were reproduced in it.

In the course of the Great Migration , after the Germanic indigenous population largely emigrated, between 568 and 800 Slavic groups immigrated in at least four waves from the Bohemia region , from the Vistula and from the Carpathian foothills into the Havelland . The groups of immigrants merged with the remaining Germanic-born autochthonous population . The tribe of the Heveller (Stodorjane) developed .

The Hevellers had a rural culture. For example, they used wooden hook plows and farmed cattle . Domestic animals were pigs, cattle, sheep, goats and horses. Further, Zeidlerei operated.
