The Verschiedensporige jelly tear ( Dacrymyces variisporus ) is a species of fungus from the family of tears fungal relatives (Dacrymycetaceae). Like most other gelatinous tears , it forms gelatinous, yellowish fruiting bodies and grows as a saprobiont on dead, debarked wood. The species is widespread in the Holarctic and fructified on conifers in the northern hemisphere in mild, damp weather all year round .

Macroscopic features
The gelatinous tear with different pores has pillow-shaped fruit bodies with a gelatinous texture and an individual diameter of 3–5 mm. The basidiocarpies grow gregarious and dense and, like other gelatinous tears, often fuse to form an amorphous mass of up to 15 mm in length. They are often slightly sunk in the middle. They are fresh yellow-orange to orange. When dry, they are yellow to dark brown in color.
Microscopic features
The hyphae and probasidia of the species are buckled . The thin-walled spores of the species are initially broadly elliptical and 14–17 × 8–9 µm in size, later narrow ellipsoidal or sausage-shaped and 18–30 × 6–9 µm in size. When ripe they are 3–9 times transversely septate , occasionally they also show 1–2 longitudinal septa.
Ecology and phenology
The gelatinous teardrop with different pores is a saprobiont that grows on dead, preferably debarked, coniferous wood. The main substrate is the silver fir ( Abies alba ). If the weather is suitable and mild, the species fructifies all year round.

The gelatinous tear with different pores is common throughout the Holarctic . The species inhabits submeridional , temperate and boreal climates. It is consistently considered rare.
