The administrative association founded in 1978 is based in Schirnding. In 1995 part of the Arzberger forest was incorporated into Schirnding, which also increased the area of the administrative community. Something similar happened in 2013 with the area of Hohenberg an der Eger and part of the Hohenberger Forest .
